GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE DISCUSSED:
Structural and non-structural opportunities to address high water conditions in Water Conservations Areas (WCAs) and seepage induced flooding at 8.5 Square Mile Area (SMA).
Strategies to provide enhanced flood mitigation at 8.5 SMA were evaluated by SFWMD Hydrology & Hydraulics Staff. Options evaluated include a drainage canal with a pump or operable gravity structure on the western boundary of 8.5 SMA, multiple curtain wall alignments and a combination of both curtain wall and drainage canal.
Staff will present the results of the study and facilitate discussion by WRAC Participants on addressing seepage induced flooding in the 8.5 SMA.
a) Background and overview of history of flood mitigation efforts in 8.5 SMA
b) Evaluation of seepage management options for the Western limits of 8.5 SMA
c) Nonstructural opportunities and challenges’
