Significant Rainfall May Impact Levels and Floodplain in the Upper Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and Kissimmee River
The South Florida Water Management District is anticipating the possibility of significant rainfall in the Upper Kissimmee Chain of Lakes associated with Tropical Storm Ian. The rainfall is expected to cause the Kissimmee River to expand into the floodplain and deepen.
Residents should expect to see the Kissimmee River rise in anticipation of the storm and post-storm. Residents living on or near the Kissimmee River should secure their boats and loose items in anticipation of rising water levels.
