NAPLES, Fla. - With the region entering the dry season, the Big Cypress Basin (BCB) in Collier County is utilizing a new water control structure on the Curry Canal that will help ensure adequate water supply for the basin's residents and the environment.
"Water is the most valuable natural resource in the world and ensuring enough water for all of South Florida to live and thrive is one of our core missions," said BCB Chair and SFWMD Governing Board Member Charlette Roman. "This new structure on the Curry Canal will protect natural areas and the environment by holding groundwater levels higher in the dry season as well as helping to ensure enough water supply for the region's needs."
