WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Governing Board today recognized June as Flood Awareness Month and unveiled a video dedicated to educating the public about the work the District does to protect residents from flooding.
"Protecting communities from flooding is central to our mission," said SFWMD Governing Board Chairman Chauncey Goss. "From the control room to the pump stations, our dedicated staff is hard at work every second of every day keeping the more than 8.7 million residents of South Florida safe. Flood Awareness Month is a good opportunity to not only recognize their hard work but also to remember we all have to do our part to prevent flooding after a storm."
