The South Florida Water Management District cancelled the Rulemaking Meeting for the proposed Lower West Coast Restricted Allocation Areas for the Sandstone and Mid-Hawthorn Aquifers. This meeting was scheduled for May 8, 2026. 

The District continues to closely monitor the Sandstone Aquifer and the Mid-Hawthorn Aquifer and will continue to coordinate with our partners, local governments, stakeholders and the public in any efforts to protect the water resources in the Lower West Coast of Florida.

The South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services are hosting a public workshop to highlight the exciting work underway in the Northern Everglades and provide the public with the opportunity to help shape future planning efforts.
