Did you know the South Florida Water Management District’s dedicated team of public servants is working every day to manage and safeguard Central and Southern Florida’s water resources, protect our communities from flooding, and meet the region’s water needs?
The SFWMD’s scientists, engineers, project managers, financial analysts, administrative staff and many other dedicated employees operate from Orlando to the Florida Keys to carry out the District’s public service mission and effectively manage every drop of water that moves through the SFWMD's canals, natural areas, levees and water control structures.
This week is Public Service Recognition Week, and we’re celebrating our talented SFWMD employees, both past and present, for their service to the people of Central and Southern Florida. Together, our SFWMD team works year-round to:
- Advance Everglades restoration
- Improve water quality
- Restore and protect South Florida’s natural ecosystems
- Manage, safeguard and expand regional water supplies
- Monitor weather conditions and manage water levels throughout the District's water control system
- Advance scientific data and research to ensure the region's water resources and ecosystems are resilient now and into the future
We are grateful for our hard-working employees. Their work is making a difference for our environment and more than nine million residents of Central and Southern Florida.
