Did you know the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) makes it easy to access key information about water management infrastructure in Central and Southern Florida?
The SFWMD’s new Water Management Infrastructure Brochure features a detailed map of the regional water management system, along with key information about recreational opportunities and navigational locks throughout the SFWMD's 16-county region.
The SFWMD actively operates and maintains the world’s largest water control system. This multi-purpose water management system continues to expand as major ecosystem restoration, flood control and other water infrastructure projects are completed. The SFWMD’s new brochure makes it easy to follow the flow of water as it moves through the regional system.
Today, the SFWMD manages:
- 2,175+ Miles of Canals
- 2,130+ Miles of Levees/Berms
- 915+ Water Control Structures
- 620+ Culverts
- 85+ Pump Stations
- About 3,537 hydrological monitoring stations at more than 687 flow sites, including 201 rain gauges and 22 weather stations.
