Did you know the men and women of the South Florida Water Management District are responsible for advancing Everglades restoration, ensuring water supply, and providing flood protection for more than 9 million residents in South Florida? SFWMD employees work from Orlando to the Florida Keys to carry out the District’s mission and meet the region’s water needs.

The District’s team includes some of the world's top ecologists, biologists, modelers, pump station operators, engineers, water managers, electricians, mechanics, heavy equipment operators, administrative professionals, project managers and many other talented staff who all serve the people of South Florida. Together, we work to:

- Restore and protecting South Florida’s natural ecosystems
- Manage, safeguard and expand regional water supplies
- Monitor weather conditions and managing water levels throughout the District's water control system
- Advance scientific data and research to ensure the region's water resources and ecosystems are resilient now and into the future
