The project will increase the flow of water south to the Everglades and mitigate flooding in the Las Palmas community.
Today, City of Pahokee Mayor Keith Babb presented the “Key to the City” to the South Florida Water Management District (District) for their assistance with cleaning up the blue-green algal blooms at the Pahokee Marina. In addition to the City’s efforts to combat algae in the marina, the District also turned on brand-new circulator pumps to keep the water moving at the Pahokee Marina and aid in the prevention of new blue-green algal blooms.
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) will begin the second phase of its project to removal shoal and sediment from the C-24 Canal in St. Lucie County on June 14. The project will stretch from State Road 70 to Orange Avenue west of Fort Pierce and is expected to last a year.
