Miami-Dade County, Fla. - Today, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined local, state, federal and tribal officials as well as stakeholders to cut the ribbon on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) New Water Seepage Barrier Wall Project, which extends the successful underground wall that was built as part of the 8.5 Square Mile Area Seepage Wall Project.
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is upgrading the reference system used to measure water elevations. Water elevation readings, also known as water level readings, will soon be reported in the newer North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88) instead of the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD 29).
