Upper East Coast Water Supply Plan

upper east coast water supply plan map

The Upper East Coast Water Supply Planning Area includes all of Martin and St. Lucie counties, and the northeastern portion of Okeechobee County. The South Florida Water Management District is developing the 2026 Upper East Coast Water Supply Plan Update (UEC Plan Update) to assess projected water demands and potential sources of water through 2050. This plan update will be used by local governments, water users, and utilities to update and modify local comprehensive plans, facility work plans, and ordinances.

The Upper East Coast Planning Area has a growing population and limited freshwater resources. Because freshwater sources are limited, the 2026 Upper East Coast Water Supply Plan Update focuses on development of alternative water supply sources and opportunities for water conservation to address future water demands.
